Thank you for taking time to drop us a note.
We appreciate the words of wisdom and
well wishes!

Cindy, Jill and Rusty,

Wow! We are impressed with all of you and the people of Towner County who support the dream of the Cando Spirit. The IMPACT-CANDO CONNECTION FUND touches all the community. Ernie and I still receive the Cando Record Herald (we live in Palm Springs, CA) but we never forget Cando. The pink reminder that comes in the mail brings smiles and memories of the strong and happy people who live in the county and city.
As a retired social worker and now writer and artist, we are very happy that I-CCF helps the young, the seniors, the medical, the library, AUDI, the Arts and many more organizations that makes Cando a very special community to live in.
We both feel very fortunate to be able to make a small difference. Happy Valentine's Day! Thank you for all you do.

This is great you guys got this started.  This is something that should have been started years ago.  It's great that even though you don't live in Cando any longer, your heart is here.  We appreciate all of your dedication and hard work.

Jeff and Cyndi Farbo

Dear Cindy:

I enjoyed visiting with you on the phone and learning how the Cando Connection came to be.  I worked in the private not-for-profit sector for years.  I know how important the management and the fundraising are in order to have a successful, on-going program that will benefit worthy organizations within the community.

It has always been my desire for the Cando community to be strong in the arts, education, and health.  Over the years the community has diminished in the number of permanent residents, to one of seasonal visitors and homeowners.  This change does not build strength and quality for families to stay and become a strong community unit.

What makes Cando unique from all the other small towns and how can that uniqueness be built on to help the town grow?  Cando has so much to offer, including a hospital and rest home, ice rink, theatre, library, schools, city park, museums, community concerts, sports, hunting, fishing, and lodging.  But what makes Cando a destination at the crossroads of Highway 17 and 281?  At this time in history what will make Cando the one place that is different - that tells of the history and a future that supports the proud name of Cando, North Dakota?

I was one of those who left Cando, but I took with me the values and pride of being from Cando.  It was the school, churches, neighbors, and friends that helped form me.  The Cando "wave" was one of the first things I taught my husband that he MUST DO!  That was important . . . it was Cando . . . it was North Dakota.

My husband and I are supportive of the Impact-Cando Connection Fund and want to be a part of it.  We look forward to hearing which projects are awarded grants and about their success.  Best wishes and thank you for all your very hard work to make the Impact-Cando Connection happen.  That is the CANDO/MUST DO spirit!

Blessings to you,

Marilyn and Ernie Ford

I was part of the 1971 class.  I learned most of my skills while being a student at Cando and growing up in the community.  I had an opportunity to live in Cando again as an adult with my husband and family.  Bob had the State Farm agency there from 1984-1988.  Nothing but great memories of Cando!
